I have always been intrigued by the learning process, seeking research and strategies that support learners.  While learning about and implementing various instructional designs, I noticed that students took learning episodes farther and deeper than I anticipated.  As such, I shifted my lesson design to become student-centered, which resulted in richer, more meaningful understanding that “stuck.”  

 

  • I advance a constructivist theory of learning in which participants make sense of experiences through interactive processes.

  • Teachers are designers of learning, and they facilitate students’ interactions and growth opportunities.

  • My professional experiences have always focused on learning and education.
     

  • After moving out of the classroom, I began to design and implement face-to-face (F2F) and online learning for public school teachers, including novice educators and teacher mentors.
     

  • I also have designed coursework, provided instruction, and supervised student teacher interns at George Mason University, Hampton University, and American University, Washington, D.C.
     

  • In 2020, Atlanta Public Schools created in-house mentor learning modules based on my expertise and guidance.
